Jon Knapp
In addition to being a worship leader coach, I am also a Worship Pastor at Countryside Community Church in Sherwood Oregon. I have been a pastor since 1998, and have lead worship since I was 10 years old. Having served full time as a worship pastor in 3 very different churches from large multisite, to small to medium sized churches I understand the uniqueness of each environment. I have the Master of Divinity Degree from Western Seminary in Portland, Or, and am grateful for the amazing mentoring and coaching I have had through my life. My passion is passing on what others imparted to me over the years.
I have been married to Lynsey Knapp since 2002, and she has been my partner in ministry through the ups and downs. Lynsey has a Master of Clinical Mental Health from George Fox, and is a professional counselor.
My Why:
Worship is not just a warm up to the sermon, a lot is at stake:
Worship is our eternal calling and the reason we were created
Worship is the reason missions exists: to make more worshipers
Worship is a big part of the reason we teach the bible: to help us grow as worshipers
Corporate worship is a big part of spiritual formation the church
Corporate worship is a key factor in contributing to the growth of local churches
While most of the gifts will fade away, loving God through worship will never cease
It is truly the centerpiece of what it means to be the church, to worship our Everlasting Father. Bringing glory and exaltation to the name of Jesus above every other name!
My greatest spiritual breakthroughs have happened both in corporate and private worship. So as a leader of worship both on the stage and off the stage there is a lot at stake to do it well.
Leading a worship ministry is such a unique role, with a very complex skill set. Part of my calling in the second half of life is to help the church become healthier through pastoring and coaching worship pastors and leaders to excel in their calling.
